Daniel Brill, M.D. joins the Elman Retina Group as a dual-fellowship trained specialist in vitreoretinal surgery and uveitis. Dr. Brill is passionate about providing patients with the highest level of care, including complex retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes, and uveitis.
Dr. Brill was born in Pikesville, MD. After completing middle and high school in central Pennsylvania, he earned his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He received his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, where he completed the Global Health Scholars Program. Dr. Brill completed his Ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Health System, Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. In his final year of ophthalmology residency, he served as chief resident. After residency, Dr. Brill pursued advanced fellowship training in uveitis and ocular immunology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. Dr. Brill was honored with the title of Fellow of the Year by Massachusetts Eye and Ear residents at graduation. Afterward, Dr. Brill completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye Institute, Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center, and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Dr. Brill has published numerous research articles and presented them at major conferences. Dr. Brill is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the American Uveitis Society. Dr. Brill is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Brill enjoys long-distance running, football, and hanging out with his family outside of work. Dr. Brill has volunteered internationally in India, Israel, Nicaragua, Panama, and Senegal. Dr. Brill is a devoted husband, hiking Mount Kilimanjaro and running several full and half marathons with his wife.
